Gas Fee Predictor

About Gas Fee Predictor

Free · independent

Short version

Gas Fee Predictor is a free Ethereum gas utility. We show live mainnet and Layer 2 gas prices, forecast where fees may head over the next few hours, and let you save an alert at the gas level you care about. No signup is required. No personal data is sold. The site is supported by ads.

What we do

Ethereum gas fees move minute to minute. We track those movements in one place and translate them into practical signals: how much your transaction will cost in USD right now, when the next cheaper window is likely to arrive, and which Layer 2 is cheapest for the transaction you actually want to do.

Live data

Mainnet gas refreshes every 30 seconds. Layer 2 RPCs every 60. ETH/USD every 5 minutes. Historical samples persist every 90 seconds.

Pattern-based forecasts

A short-term predictor blends current gas with hour-of-day and day-of-week multipliers learned from weeks of real history. Directional, not magical.

Multi-chain

Mainnet plus Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, and Polygon — so you can pick the cheapest network without juggling four browser tabs.

No tracking dark patterns

Browser-local storage for the alerts you save. No required signup. No personal data sold.

Where the data comes from

All numbers on this site come from public sources we cite below. We do not run our own consensus nodes; we read from public infrastructure and process it.

  • Mainnet gas: public Ethereum gas trackers + recent-block base fees from public RPCs
  • Layer 2 gas: the official public RPC endpoints for Arbitrum One, OP Mainnet, Base, and Polygon PoS
  • ETH/USD and POL/USD: CoinGecko free public API
  • Historical samples: a background writer that snapshots prices every 90 seconds into our own database (mainnet + L2 separately)

The same JSON endpoints we use internally are also free for anyone — see the public gas API page for details.

Editorial independence

We are not affiliated with Ethereum, Optimism, Arbitrum, Base, Polygon, Coinbase, any wallet, or any DEX. We don't accept paid placements for "cheapest L2" rankings or "recommended exchange" rotations. When we say a particular L2 is currently cheapest, it's because that's what the live RPC data says, not because anyone paid for the position.

We don't take affiliate fees from bridges, exchanges, or wallet products. Links to those services on this site are plain links, not referral codes.

How we make money

The site is supported by display advertising — primarily Google AdSense. Ads are served programmatically and we don't hand-pick advertisers. We never trade placement for favorable content, and the advice on this site (which network to use, when to transact, which alerts to set) is the same whether or not the user looked at an ad first.

We don't sell user data. We don't require email or signup to use the core tools. Saved alerts are persisted in your browser's local storage by default; email is only used if you want to receive a notification when the threshold is met. Details in the Privacy Policy.

Limits we're honest about

  • Forecasts are directional, not guarantees. Our predictor outperforms random timing roughly 2-to-1 for landing in the cheapest 25% of a 12-hour window, but it can't see a sudden NFT mint or news event coming.
  • L2 execution-only figures. For OP-stack chains (Optimism, Base) the displayed gas is the L2 execution cost. Real wallet quotes include an L1 calldata fee on top. We label this clearly on the L2 hub.
  • No financial advice. "Best time to send" is a gas timing signal, not investment advice.
